Life can often feel so busy that it feels difficult to fit mindfulness and being active into our daily schedules. Sometimes, to the detriment of our wellbeing. For others of us, symptoms such as chronic pain or racing thoughts might make being mindful or moving more a challenge.
The good news is, we can break these thought and behaviour patterns starting with easy everyday changes. Growth comes from planting small seeds, whatever you can do today IS ENOUGH.
3 Ways you might start out:
1. Press Pause on that mental To Do list. Notice the moment, this could be as simple as taking a break from your desk to make a cuppa. The important thing is that you signal to your brain and body that it can relax.
2. Not every day (or any day for some of us) can be a hike in the mountains but we can still experience nature in our days. Take a walk outside, in the park, in your garden. notice what you can hear, smell and see. If you can't get outdoors, try some gentle movements that feel good for your body whilst focusing on what you can notice outside your window.
3. Make the mundane mindful. Turn washing pots, hanging washing out or even ironing (if that's your thing!) into mindful movement. Everyday tasks involve us using our bodies how they were made to be used, through functional tasks. Instead of berating yourself for not going to the gym, notice how much you move your body each day and thank it for supporting you in whatever way it can right now.
